BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) – The trial of a Colorado man accused of killing his wife more than 15 years ago in Montana has been delayed until July 27, and he is out on bail after a judge reduced his bond amount.

Forty-six-year-old Brian David Laird had been scheduled to go to trial Monday in the death of 28-year-old Kathryn Laird. Her badly-bruised body was found floating in a bay below Yellowtail Dam in Carbon County.

Laird denies charges of deliberate homicide.

The former fly fishing guide and attorney from Fort Collins could face the death penalty or a minimum 10 years in prison if convicted.

Over objections from prosecutors, state District Judge Michael Hayworth reduced Laird’s bond to $250,000 in late January, allowing Laird to get out while he awaits his trial.
